【摘要】:Thismethodisfordeterminingtotalcarbononcatalystsandinotherinorganicmaterialsusingahightemperatureinductionfurnacecarbonanalyzer.Themethodisgenerallyappliedoverarangeof0.01to20mass-%carbon;however,upto100mass-%carboncanbedeterminedwithappropriatecalibration.Onusedcatalyst,thecarbonmaybepresentascokeand/orhydrocarbons.Ifonlythecarbonpresentascokeisdesired,hydrocarbonsareremovedbyextractionpriortoanalysis,asdescribedinUOPMethod602,SoxhletExtractionofCatalysts.Analysisofcatalystscontaininglighthydrocarbonscanbeproblematicduetothermallossofthehydrocarbonsbeforecontrolledcombustionoccurs.Forsuchmaterials,othermethods,suchasASTMD5291,InstrumentalDeterminationofCarbon,Hydrogen,andNitrogeninPetroleumProductsandLubricants,shouldbeutilized.Analyzersthatutilizecombustiontube,ratherthaninductionfurnacetechnologymaybeusedifitcanbeproventhattheyyieldprecisiondataatleastasgoodasthatlistedherein.
