【摘要】:Wheninterpretedwiththeaidofappropriatecalibrationdata,eithertestmethodcanbeusedtocomparethetotalmethylcontentsofpolyethylenesmadebysimilarprocesses.Suchinformationcanbeinterpretedintermsofspecificalkylgroupswiththeaidofdataoninfraredabsorptionatcertainotherwavelengths(3).Note48212;Thebiasofdeterminationoftheconcentrationoftotalalkylgroupsdependsonknowingtheconcentrationsofmethylandethylbranchespresent,sincethesebrancheshaveanomalouslyhighabsorptivitiespergroupat1378cmx2212;1(7.25x03BC;m).Knowledgeoftotalmethylgroupsinpolyethylene,whencombinedwithdataonmolecularweightandonreactiveendgroupssuchasvinyl,canleadtoassignmentofend-groupstructuresandcanshedlightuponpolymerizationmechanisms.Dataontotalmethylgroupsinpolyethylenecanbecorrelatedqualitativelywithcertainpolymerpropertiessuchasmeltingpoint,density,stiffness,andothermechanicalpropertiesthatarecloselydependentonthedegreeofcrystallinityofthepolymer.Thesetestmethodsareespeciallysuitableforresearch.Theyhavenotbeentestedforuseinmanufacturingcontrol.1.1Thesetestmethodscovermeasurementbyinfraredabsorptionspectrophotometryofthe1378.4-cm1(7.255-m)bandinpolyethyleneduetomethylgroups.(1,2,4-7)Twotestmethodsarecovered:1.1.1TestMethodAusescompensationwithastandardsamplefilmorwedgeofknownmethylcontent.1.1.2TestMethodBusescompensationwithawedgeofpolymethyleneorapolyethyleneofknownlowmethylcontent.1.2ThesetestmethodsareapplicabletopolyethylenesofTypesI(density910to925kg/m3),II(density926to940),andIII(density941to965).Note18212;Fordeterminationofdensity,seeSpecificationsD1248.Note28212;IncasesofTypeIIIpolyethylenewithdensitiesgreaterthan0.950g/cm3,differentresultsareobtainedwiththetwotestmethods.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninbracketsareforinformationonly.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecifichazardsstatementsaregiveninSection7.Note38212;ThereisnosimilarorequivalentISOstandardcoveringthesubjectmatterofthesetestmethods.
